Meera Jasmine back in Malayalam

After a hiatus of more than a year, Meera Jasmine has signed a new film in Malayalam, titled Pattinte Palazhi, in which she plays the role of a Meera Jasmine
playback singer, who is lonely at the top.

The film is directed by Rajeev Anchal, who is noted for his offbeat films. It has not been a bed of roses for the actress, who till recently, faced an unofficial ban in the Malayalam film industry, due to the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). The reason? The actress walked out of Twenty:20, a film produced by AMMA, because she had no dates.

Meanwhile, Meera changed tracks and decided to do more films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. So far, she has a total of six releases this year, the highest for any heroine in the south. She also seems to have her kitty full, as she is doing four Tamil films at the moment. The projects include Malaiyoor Mambattiyaan with Prasanth, Adhi Narayana with newcomers, Sivappu Mazhai with newcomer Suresh Joachim and Pen Singam, which is based on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s novel — Suruli Malai, with Uday Kiran.

Despite being busy with Kollywood, Meera’s heart has always been set on Malayalam cinema. Her roles in Mollywood have fetched her maximum awards and has given her the image of a powerful performer and an actress of substance in the foreign film festival circuit. She is now being considered to play the heroine in a famous Hindi art house director’s forthcoming film, the script discussion of which is on. The Kollywood grapevine has it that Meera, who still refuses to talk to the press about her stormy personal life, is now trying to reinvent herself. The buzz is that she has distanced herself from Mandolin Rajesh, who was her constant companion.

Says Rajeev Anchal who is bringing her back to Malayalam cinema, “Meera Jasmine is one of the finest young actors in Indian cinema. She has a lot left in her. After reading the script of Pattinte Palazhi, she readily agreed to do the film. I would have dropped the project if Meera had refused it, because nobody else can do it. Revathy too will be playing an important role in this film which is based on the life and times of a singer.”

Kavya is from Nileshwaram in Kasargod and Nischal from Kayamkulam. A computer engineer by profession at the National Bank of Kuwait, Nischal has also donned the paint in some films like Kizhakkunarum Pakshi.

Rumours are afloat that the marriage is a happy climax for Kavya and Nischal who have been in love for over an year. Namitha tops in South

Namitha gets the 2008 top position in Google. Sexy Namitha (aka Namitha Vankawala) has emerged as the topmost south Indian actress in Google's 2008 India's Top Searches on Mobile list. She beat down her competitors like Shriya Saran, Trisha and Nayanthara who are also quite popular in the south, but apparently don't expose as much as Namitha does on and off screen. In Google's top search list, only two Indian actresses are listed – Katrina Kaif at number six and Namitha at number 9.

Incidently Her only Bollywood film till date has been an adult comedy Love Ke Chakkar Mein (2006), also starring Rishi Kapoor.

The hottie Namitha had won the Miss Surat crown in 2000. She stood fourth in the Miss India Competition in 2001, the same year when Celina Jaitley won the crown. Instead of trying her luck in Bollywood, Namitha migrated to the south. She has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films and is famous for her daring s-exposure in all of them.

Namitha and Bharat Kapoor Part ways!

Namitha has split with Bharath Kapoor, whom she refers to as her ‘good friend and well-wisher’!
Bharat Kapoor, the suave businessman, was Namitha’s advisor, philosopher and guide in tinsel town when she landed in Chennai. They were always seen together and thanks to his managerial skills, Namitha steadily climbed up ladder to become the hottest heroine in Kollywood. In fact, Bharat managed to maintain a low profile in Kollywood though the Tollywood tabloids had pictures of the couple and the grapevine was abuzz with rumours that they were in a live-in relationship.

But now, it looks like Namitha has split with Bharat as he moved back to Mumbai a few weeks ago. The latest we hear is that Mukesh, Namitha’s dad, has come all the way from Surat to stay with her in Chennai and look after her career. The buzz is that Bharat has discovered a young actress called Jenny in Mumbai, and he has promptly recommended her to a Tamil producer. Meanwhile, Namitha is busy as she is currently shooting for the Telugu version of Billa with Prabhas. Sources say that her break-up comes as a blessing in disguise as she’s looking for a second innings in Tollywood.
